2016 Was the Year Solar in Developing Countries Skyrocketed
According to Greentech Media, developing countries have added 34 gigawatts of solar capacity in the last year. That is an increase of 54% if you look at Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s annual analysis of emerging markets.
Furthermore, due to the low prices for the solar panels brought in 71 emerging markets, which included Brazil, Uganda, and India. Solar used to only represent 19% of new generating capacity in these countries. The installations have nearly tripled themselves in the past three years in these countries.
