National Work Zone Awareness Week
Every Spring, National Work Zone Awareness Week is brought to national attention for motorist and worker safety. As well as mobility issues in the work zone. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has been working with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials since 1999 to sponsor this event. The FHWA has also been working with the American Traffic Safety Services Association. The many States hold their own event for this week on top of the National event that is already held.
This year, Illinois will be hosting this National event from April 9-13. That national kick-off event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10th.
